Evidence of new info added in?

11 10 2007

I saw this both at over!my!med!body! and at Someonetc’s blog. and am tempted /moved to blog.

This fellow has used peanut butter to make his point FOR creationism.

Our friendly Orthopaedic Attending (i like his blog tremendously) has asked for a better argument. I’m actually glad people are seeking. Seeking for more convincing arguments. Seeking for the truth. Or are our minds made up from the onset? Is mine?

“[12]Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. [13] And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. [14] And I will be found of you, saith the LORD.”

- Jeremiah 29:12-14

My comments is posted at over!my!med!body! (gotta scroll to page bottom)

Answers in Genesis? i guess part of ‘tackling’ this issue is about a question of origins.

Scientific foreknowledge in the Bible

There are so many instances that correlate modern science and what the Bibl says, that as a budding doctor and scientist, i am only just beginning to find out. I have yet to view all of it, but this is the resource if you are interested. (I might actually be starting a blog just for that in Dec 07 or so, when the pre-clinical finals (EOS, VIA, OSCEs) are over.)

The Evidence Bible, edited by Ray Comfort, has put together a list as well and an interesting one i found was this:

“Medical science has only recently discovered that blood-clotting in a newborn reaches its peak on the 8th day, then drops. The Bible consistently says that a baby must be circumcised on the 8th day.”

Bible references: Gen 17:12; Excellent resource: AP Press

Of course, whether to circumcise or not is a personal preference now, and we have to respect the Jews and Muslims for their religious choices.

On a side note, i am not undermining the Old Testament, and i’d be very careful if one were to simply strike the OT off by saying it is outdated. There are great lessons to be learnt if one were to study it with clean hands and pure hearts. :)
Loss or addition of genetic info?

This is something i am personally struggling with as well. Obviously i am nowhere near the calibre or knowledge to comment about this; i am not geneticist, anthropologist, or a scientist. Is genetic information constantly lost? Or gained? If so, where? Which species? How?

A Christian book i might read over the hols.

I don’t think we should respect religious practices that harm children. I think we should question and reconsider them. Children are people to, and they deserve to be protected until they, as consenting adults, can make their own decisions regarding what they believe.
