Hello, I would check out cadence app , it is an application that makes it easy to find music that matches the beats per minute you run at.

http://www.cadenceapp.com

you select the beats per minute that matches your speed, it plays all the music you have that matches that speed.

Dont run with music, it only desensitises the run. A bit like wearing a condom during sex. I did an experiement myself in which i ran a 10km race without music and then the following week I ran it along to music. Although I found that running to music was entertaining it took away that buzz you get when i came across the end line. My emotions were much different at the end of the race compared to when i ran without the music. With out the music I was fully engrossed in my runnning, hearing every breath i took and the noises of pain coming from my fellow runners. Hearing these sounds all added to the challenge and the feeling of achievement at the end of the race. On the other hand with the music playing I doddled along in my own little world and crossed the line wondering what all the fuss was about. I'd lost the the feeling of race day, for i had blocked out all the sounds of the reality of the situation with cheesy dance songs. Music and running can be good but running without it will heighten your emotions giving you not only a quicker time but a great sense of achievement. Be strong, drop the tunes and listen to your heart beat instead.

say, is it really true that cushy running shoes train our feet to land improperly and thus lead to more injuries than running in very thin-soled shoes or barefoot?

Thanks for sharing this. I am a runner and I do a lot of listening to music when I train on the tracks, road or trail. During the training, I observed that it does a lot of improvement to the result of my time. And this is because of the choices of music i play when I train which is my favorite music. It doesn't matter if it is fast or slow as long as I like it and does improve my training. and during the race day, I do finish in a best place.

Very interesting read jeffrey. I had a question on the idea of "music and running". Do you think that it is possible to speed up or slow down a runners pace by listening to music? Of course you explain that positive music and negative music can effect the outcome of a persons run. More positive music equals a better overall run and workout compared to negative music (less of a performance and workout than that portrayed from the positive music). But, do tempos and rhythms change the pace of a runner? You briefly touch on this subject at the beginning of your paper but I did not really read your results. I am wondering if music were played during track events, whether a runner may be able to increase his or her performance and improve on his or her time based on the type of music (fast or slow) that is playing during his or her run? A faster tempo causing a faster completed race time or a slower tempo causing a slower completed race time.
